Honk City

Just one more thing about Lima. These people honk constantly. just lay on their horns in every situation. Today i was walking to the bar down the street and there was a man walking and tooting a whistle. The poorman's honk perhaps?

Those are more pics of Lima

India is worse...every public vehicle has painted on the rear end in lovely calligraphy "Please Use Horn". My take on the situation with experience... In India you have a myriad of transportation modes with different rates of speed...ie. man pulling cart versus mercedes...elephant vs. moped...so the loud blare is to warn others you are approaching and get out of the way.

In Peru...it's cuz no one follows the rules of the road, for instance no one signals with their blinker when changing lanes, nor even stays within those white lines on the road. So throw out the Driver's Ed manual... To prevent a head on collision, as you pass that bus, round a blind corner when you have no clear field of vision, and absolutely no right to pass?!! HONK if you love life. :)
